Chicago Premier of “The Keeper of the Keys” movie a big success!
Many thanks to fellow cast member Steve Olsher who arranged for a wonderful event at the Highland Park Theatre where a great crowd gathered to view the movie and support the “Keep On Keeping On” Foundation and raise money to install an elevator in the home of a family with three children severely afflicted with cerebral palsy.

TRY OR CRY!
“If at first you don’t succeed . . .”
You know the rest, don’t you? Yes, you do. But you’re not living like you believe it, are you?
My first reaction to failure is not to try again. Rather, it’s to take a seat in my pity chair. You have such a chair, too. Mine is constructed of denial, self-deceit, fuzzy thinking, blaming and excuse-making. So is yours.
Unless we think to leave our chairs behind (pardon the pun), we are always dragging them behind us (sorry, again). This means that we have to think about our reaction to failure at the time we feel we’ve failed or else we’ll find ourselves firmly ensconced in self-loathing and angry recriminations. “If at first you don’t succeed, cry, cry and cry again!” characterizes our reaction to failure.
Are you crying over your failures in life? The only way to stop crying is to start trying again.
I was spell-bound observing a robin that recently decided to take up residence in the birdhouse in our back yard. It swooped to the ground in search of building materials snatching up a bit of twine before flying back to its new home. Just as it reached the perch, the twine dropped from its bill.
Three times the bit of string fell to the ground as the robin tried to make it part of its nest. Each time it went down and picked it up. I found myself cheering it on.
On its next try the resolute robin tucked the piece of twine into place with painstaking care. Then it wiggled around, trying the nest on for size. It fluttered a bit, then flew off for more supplies.
The robin’s nature was not to cry over it’s momentary setbacks but to try, try again until its original mission was completed. Unfortunately, human beings naturally react to failure the other way around. Our robin didn’t have to choose how to react. It didn’t need to. But we have to if we are to accomplish our unique purpose in life.
Ask yourself, “Am I trying or crying in the face of failure?” Your choice.
